What I say: I like this Michelle/Maureen thing.

What I mean: I really like how free their relationship is, like they’re not labelling themselves, they’re just letting it all come naturally. These two are very comfortable with each other, they are two lonely unusual people being brought together because they finally found someone who understands them. Yeah it might seem weird or frustrating to some that they don’t just say they’re lesbian partners but maybe that’s because they’re not ready for that commitment yet. Maybe they are just comfortable with being somewhere between friends and lovers. We know that they’re not just ‘gal pals’ but that doesn’t mean they can’t be in an in between or above place that they themselves choose. They are connected only where they are choosing to be connected. I love how Night Vale explores different kinds of relationships, both in combination of people (male/male Cecilos, Male/Female The Carlsbergs and now Female/Female Michelle/Maureen) and the way a relationship can be and function, it’s really only a matter of time before we get poly NB relationship action or something. And on that matter, what if one or both of these girls is aro and/or ace? That would be totally fine and cool too.
